Saturn in Aquarius Dec 2020-Mar 2023: We The People - Part 2

Hello lovely ones! Well, what a week in the cosmos…!

Tha Sagittarius Solar Eclipse, Chiron stationing direct, Saturn stationing back into Aquarius, and Jupiter following along so they can meet up next week and form their great conjunction on no less than the darkest day of the year – the Winter Solstice.

Whew. It’s a lot. But let’s talk about our friend Saturn. Jordan Shomer (an Aquarius Sun!) wrote all about this transit back in March when Saturn first moved into Aquarius. You can re-read it here to refresh yourself on some of her powerful Aquarian insights.

In this piece I want to follow up on the ‘We the People’ Soulstrology theme for Jupiter and Saturn both being in Aquarius for the next year (give or take a few months next Summer when Saturn goes into Pisces).

First off, I want to give everyone the heads up that if you were born between February 6 1991 to May 21st 1993 or June 29th 1993 to January 27th 1994 then you will be experiencing your Saturn return during Saturn’s transit of Aquarius. Please do not be alarmed. Saturn returns get way worse a rap than they should as they are simply an astrological rite of passage. Yes, it is often a challenging time but also a time that rewards us with stability and success (to the degree that we learn Saturn’s lessons and of course dot our i’s and cross our t’s!). I will be writing more about Saturn returns in Aquarius in time…

But what does Saturn in Aquarius bode for the rest of us? And what is the meaning of the Soulstrology theme: We The People?

First off, I want you to know that I purposely made the Jupiter in Aquarius post We the People Part 1. As you know by now Jupiter is the cosmic miracle maker and expander. I wanted to first infuse his optimistic energies into your consciousness so you would be excited for the potential that lies ahead in the Aquarius ruled parts of life, before talking about serious Saturn.

While Jupiter helps us see the promise and potential, helps us to heal and in turn manifest, Saturn does quite the opposite.

Saturn ‘helps’ us to see what is wrong, what isn’t working, where we need to take responsibility and sets us tests to pass. Saturn is quite literally the karmic cosmic teacher. When he shows up in a particular area of your chart, whatever we experience is karmic in the sense that it is caused by our own creation. Saturn is also known as the lord of time so he reflects back to us what we have done over time which has created our current reality. Cause = effect. I know that sometimes doesn’t sit very well with people (been there!) but it is simply the way Saturn transits works.

The aftermath of Saturn in Capricorn and the energy of the Saturn/Pluto conjunction still influences the astrology of 2021. Saturn may have moved on to Aquarius, but we stand in the rubbles of the existing structures of our society, still dazed, confused and bleary eyed, yet facing the pressing need to rebuild.

On a collective level Saturn will show us all the very real work that needs to be undertaken to heal humanity and for justice and equality to prevail. This transit will highlight the extent of our divisions and intolerances and initially we may feel as though things are getting worse, and we are going backwards (and becoming even more divided) before we actually make some progress.

On this note while I am very hopeful that the worst will be over by March, I believe Covid19 will still influence our lives through 2021 and even beyond. There is no ‘going back to normal’ and how things were. Not for a while anyway. The vaccine is great news, but Saturn tells me that our way of socializing and gathering (Aquarius) will still be restricted (Saturn) for some time to come. Also, the politicization of the pandemic and divisions around how to handle it (vaccinations, mask wearing versus ‘freedom’ and herd immunity) will continue to dominate next year with Saturn showing us just how divided people are. The intolerance (a very Aquarian shadow) of others beliefs will continue to cause the kind of separation that has us forgetting that no matter what we believe or preach, ultimately it boils down to ‘love thy neighbor as thy self’. In the end it’s how we love and care for others that is most important.

As I mentioned in the Jupiter in Saturn post, one of the things I also see becoming an issue over the next year or so is the rise in cultish groups who have a lot of influence but not necessarily for the highest good of all…even if they are convinced that their way IS the way. It’s going to be a continued tricky time on many levels with social (and of course social media) minefields blowing up left, right and center.

And this collective energy will also trickle down and impact us on a micro-level. You may have experienced it in 2020, I know I did. As we move through this huge collective evolution, we are naturally realizing who we are aligned with and who resonates with us, in terms of beliefs and values.

We may not experience huge fall-outs (although in some cases we will) but we will start to see our lives go on different tracks from certain friends or groups whom we were once very close to, as we naturally move onto different paths that reflect our belief systems and values.

If Jupiter in Aquarius encourages us to hold tight the vision of community and unity, reminding us of our oneness in spite of our differences, then Saturn stands with a pail of cold water, ready to throw it over our heads and make us realize that oneness is the goal, but we need to wake up and understand what it truly is that we are dealing with before we can make true progress.

Remember Saturn moved into Aquarius for a brief time earlier this year when the social justice movement erupted almost violently (very Uranian energy) after the deaths of many innocent black Americans. That was Saturn showing us all that in spite of the Civil Rights Act being passed (when Saturn was also in Aquarius!) and all the seeming progress in racial equality and justice, the truth is that there is still so much work to be done for there to be true equality.

I hope you are not disheartened by these words, but instead are empowered and emboldened to be part of the positive change that is needed for our human family. Saturn in Aquarius promises progressive change. As well as the ending of segregation when Saturn was in Aquarius in the sixties, when Saturn transited Aquarius in the early Nineties apartheid was dismantled and soon after Nelson Mandela went from prisoner to the first black President. Talk about a shift in power! And interestingly I see strong potential for the opposite happening in the USA (not talking about the President Elect or Vice President Elect but the current President…but, I digress.)

This transit is not going to be all doom and gloom by any means and over the course of the transit I am positive we will see power go from a few people to the people. Nonetheless next year we will feel the full sternness of Saturn. That is what he does when he is newly in a sign. Just like he did earlier this year, in 2021 he will show us quite how much work needs to be done collectively for us truly heal and become a global human family.

And heads up: in 2021 Saturn in Aquarius makes a number of tense square aspects (friction, conflict, obstacles, challenges and power struggles) to Uranus (the ruler of Aquarius!) in Taurus (money, banking system, possessions, housing market). Given the economic repercussions of the pandemic, my guess is that the Saturn square Uranus transits next year are going to show us just how much work still needs to be done to clean up the mess of Capricorn and give the power back to the people. It’s going to be an odd year where very wealthy people may become much, much richer, while people on the other end of the spectrum fall off a financial cliff. There needs to be a better system in place which takes care of the most vulnerable in our society while also helping them better their lives themselves via a helping hand with their endeavors.

But it is We The People who must rewrite the rules for this new earth we are birthing. This is the age of Aquarius. No more Capricorn dominating the celestial or earthly landscape. The power has gone from the ‘powers that be’ to ‘we the people’. And we the people will need to face our darkest Aquarian shadows as we try to heal humanity and rebuild society, as well as reach our full potential in the Aquarius ruled parts of our unique charts and lives.

I believe in our ability to do so. I believe in the mad genius that lies within each of us (even if seemingly dormant right now). I trust in our ability to rise above our indifferences and intolerances to see that in the end we all cry the same salt tears, bleed in the same color and smile in the same language.

We are one. And it is our remembrance of our oneness that will be our savior. We the People can and will do it; together.

More as it unfolds, but for now, soak this post up along with the Jupiter in Aquarius post. Review the life areas ruled by Aquarius in your chart. Check in with yourself as to both the challenges and opportunities that may exist. On the Winter Solstice I will be popping into your inbox with a guided Reiki Soundbath meditation with my new gemstone bowls to help you plant the seeds of change as the healing Great Conjunction takes place so we start off as we mean to go on.
