A happy Full Moon in Cancer to you, my friends!

What a whirlwind this month has been, as we wrap up this unprecedented year. The circumstances of this year has brought to light so much that has lain dormant, personally and collectively. It feels as though we have been forced to turn our backs to the light and stare directly into the shadow cast ahead of us. The pieces of our being we’ve been able to drag behind us, out of sight, as we move about our “normal” day to day life are now standing in our path. But here we are, in the last days of 2020, having seen and learned so much. There is a heaviness that comes with the weight of knowing and the responsibility to do something about it. It’s all very Saturn-y.

We close out the year with a big, beautiful Full Moon in Cancer. The Moon, in her home of watery Cancer, will align with the Sun anchored across the sky in Capricorn at 8 degrees on December 29th, 7:28pm PST. This Full Moon is a call to give yourself what you need and illuminates our responsibility to our own care and nurturing.

Cancer is the nurturer. Saturated in intuitive and emotional wisdom, aimed at holding space for the needs of those closest to them. Cancer and Capricorn are the signs associated with our past, our parents, and our conditioning. During the Full Moon, the Sun and Moon will be forming a square to Chiron, the asteroid that represents our deepest wound. A karmic wound we were born with, that was reinforced in childhood. Parenting is the hardest job in the world, and from adulthood addressing our deepest wounds is not about placing blame. But a balancing act between accountability (Capricorn) and consistent care (Cancer). This Full Moon provides us with an opportunity for reparenting, which in short means giving ourselves the love, care, compassion, and support we needed as a child. Healing comes with learning how to show up for yourself.

Sometimes it is hard to show up for ourselves. We are conditioned to believe that investing time and energy in ourselves is selfish. But I believe it is deeply necessary. As you consider how to nurture yourself, imagine you are caring for someone you love, a best friend, a sibling, a lover, your younger self. What would you say to them? How would you show love to them? Then do that for yourself.

Cancer Full Moons are ripe with emotion. When I think of Cancer, I think of a small body of water, let's say a pond. Walking by the pond you’d think, ‘oh that’s a manageable amount of water’ and then you dive in and learn it's actually 40 ft deep. Cancer teaches us of our emotional depth. That the surface emotions we feel are simply that, surface. And beneath that lies 40 ft of emotion, experience, and past conditioning buried out of sight.

This Full Moon is an invitation to feel. Feel it all. As they say, you cannot heal what you cannot feel. As Full Moon’s are associated with release, open the flood gates. The cathartic nature of intentionally giving yourself space to feel is a way of nurturing your healing process. This is the first lunation after the Great Conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius, ushering us into a new age of being. We have the breath of new life whirling around us as we gaze out onto the uncharted territory of the future. To take in all the newness to come, we need to make space. Marie Condo our relationship to our past. Tie up loose ends. Forgive. Accept. Whatever needs to be done to leave the past in the past, as we step into the future.

This is a time to recognize the toll this year has taken on us. We have been in a state of trauma and survival since March. As we stand on the precipice of 2021, this Full Moon asks us to start a new, lighter and less burdened by the weight of 2020. Leave what you can at the door before you step through the threshold into a new year and a new era.

Take a look at the moon ruled areas of your chart, the house that Cancer rules in your chart along with the house and sign your moon sits in. Allow yourself to intuitively assess your relationship to the energy of those signs and houses. Nothing complicated, there are no right answers. If there was ever a lunation to trust your gut, this is it. If you have any planets between 5-11 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) this Full Moon may feel particularly raw. My Cardinal friends, you’ve been GOOOOOING THROUGH IT this year, so allow this Full Moon to be the final purge for you, as the turbulence that has found you in 2020 begins to dissipate as 2021 begins.

Let this Full Moon be what it is. Flow with it. Feel into it. Allow space and grace to honor it in whatever way feels right. It’s a Cancer Full Moon after all.

Check out the zodiac guide below to see what house is being activated by this Full Moon. For more information on tapping into the energy, look to the Soulstrology Scopes for a ritual and song scopes for your Sun and Rising signs.

Sending you warmth and love. I can’t wait to see you in 2021.

Lovelovelove, J
